Kendall Joel Eldred

Kendall Joel Eldred of Marshalltown passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the age of 76.
He left behind his wife, Beckie Eldred, of Marshalltown; his stepsons, Cody McKeag and Travis McKeag, and their families, of Marshalltown; his daughter, Jill Lilly and son-in-law, Mark Lilly; grandson, Matthew Lilly and granddaughter, Catherine Lilly all of West Virginia; brother, Bill Eldred and sister-in-law, Dotty Eldred of Alaska; niece, Rhonda Spetnagel and her husband, Joe Spetnagel of Nevada; nephew, David Eldred of Alaska; and many cousins and close friends.
Kendall was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dena Eldred and a brother who died in infancy.
After graduating high school in Iowa Falls, he joined the Marine Corps and served a tour in Viet Nam. He went on to become a police officer and later worked at JBS Swift & Co.
Kendall was an avid deer hunter and a fisherman. He visited his brother in Alaska several times where he stirred up the salmon population. He enjoyed watching the birds and feeding them. He enjoyed spending time with Beckie tending their beehives. He loved dogs, having owned several over the years, and he also had a soft spot for two black cats, both named Leonard.
No service is planned. His wish was to donate his body to the University of Iowa for research and education. His family is honoring that wish.
