Description

The City of Marshalltown, Iowa (population 27,500), located in the heart of Iowa, offers affordability, diversity, small-town charm with amble arts and outdoor options for everyone. The police department moved from downtown to a new public safety building the summer of 2019. The Police Chief manages the overall operations and activities of the City’s Police Department. The department is made up of two Captains, three Lieutenants, seven Sergeants, twenty nine officers and four support staff. Due to the retirement of our current Chief, who has served for the past thirteen years, we are looking to fill the vacancy with an anticipated start date in mid—January 2025. Requirements

Qualifications: Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field. A minimum of ten years of law enforcement experience, which should include at least three years of management experience having oversight of law enforcement supervisory personnel. ILEA certification requirements. Possession of a valid Driver’s license issued by the State of Iowa. Salary Range: $119,532—160,757—DOQ Benefits: Excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending, paid vacation, sick leave and participation in the MFPRSI retirement system. Residency: This position is required to live within the Marshalltown City limits.
