WATERLOO (KWWL) -The Waterloo Police Department is honoring four area children for their role in a recent water rescue.

Caly Cizek, 10, Dylan Glawe, 14, and Katelyn Ryan of Waterloo, as well as Kurtis Stabenow of Denver, were all honored with the Caring Citizen Award.

On June 19, Caly's 8-year-old brother Charlie Cizek fell into floodwaters at Bontrager Park and was swept towards an intake drain.

Caly grabbed her brother and held onto him until Waterloo Fire and Rescue arrived. Kurtis called 911, and he, Dylan and Katelyn helped hang on to Charlie.
