Claire Keigley, 72, of Ames, passed away April 28, 2014 at Israel Family Hospice House. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, also at Ascension. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Claire Jay Keigley was born June 17, 1941 to Frederick Claire and Helen Marie (Pulley) Keigley in Marshalltown, Iowa. Claire started with the Ames Police Department in 1966 and retired from there in 1994. Claire was also President of the Iowa State Police Association in 1989.

Claire is survived his wife, Virginia (Strum) Keigley, of Ames; five children, Terry (Lisa) Keigley, of Ames, Danny Keigley, of Nevada, Angie (Ken) Markley, of Gilbert, Kelly Safly, of Slater and Scott (Dani) Keigley, of Oronoco, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House or Ascension Lutheran Church.
