Robert T. “Bob” Bean, 73 of Salix, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Robert T. “Bob” Bean, 73 of Salix, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will follow at City of Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Bob was born on April 22, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa to Clyde and Margaret (Rafferty) Bean. He grew up in Onawa and attended the Onawa Public Schools. Bob joined the United States Marine Corp in 1958. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Sioux City Dressed Beef.
Bob married Neva Newman on April 27, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa. Bob joined the Sioux City Police Department in April of 1966 and served on the police force for 30 years along with being a security officer at Mercy Medical Center for over 45 years.
Bob was an avid hunter, and fisherman. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited with the Sioux City Chapter and the Onawa Chapter. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever and the National Turkey Federation.
Bob is survived by his wife Neva of Salix, Iowa; children Robert C. “Chuck” Bean of South Sioux City, NE, Thomas Clyde Bean of Las Vegas, NV, and Renee (Ray) Stoulp of Sioux City, IA; sisters and brothers Judy (Ed) Cliff of Council Bluffs, IA, Dale (Carol) Bean of Onawa, IA, Ruth (Roger) Meadows of Onawa, IA, Patty (Jerry) Bellis of Onawa, IA, and Gary (Janie) Bean of LaVista, NE; brother-in-law Keith (Karen) Newman of Sioux City, IA; three grandchildren Lauren Bean and her fiancé Josh Pottroff, Kaley Stoulp, and Caden Stoulp; great-grandchild Tegan Bean; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph Bean.
