Francis J. “Frank” Engrav, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Francis J. “Frank” Engrav, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A funeral service celebrating Frank’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Patricia Decker officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Debra (Jeff Moore) O’Connell-Moore of Iowa City and Deanna Engrav of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Michael and Zach O’Connell, Alex and Lexi Moore, Dakota and Caden Estrada-Engrav, Nate Engrav, Jimi Nyugen, Andy and Rachel Parker; and brothers, Roger Engrav of Missouri, Walter (Betty) Engrav of Arkansas, Richard (Edna) Engrav of Texas and Curtis (Roger) Snitker of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Gregory John Engrav.
Francis John Engrav was born May 29, 1932, in Lansing, Iowa, the son of Walter and Mildred (Dahly) Engrav. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. On Nov. 13, 1963, he married Carolyn Mathias in Georgia. Frank retired in 1993, after 33 years of service with the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
He enjoyed bird watching, planting flowers, hunting, fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
