James Joseph Riccio, 71, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at Unity Point Taylor House with his loving family beside him.
James Joseph Riccio, 71, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at Unity Point Taylor House with his loving family beside him. Jim was born June 19, 1943 to Margaret (Raymond) and Anthony Riccio in Des Moines.
Jim graduated with the class of 1962 from East High School. He served his community proudly as a police officer with the Des Moines Police Department. He retired as a Detective. Jim also worked for 7 years as a Federal U.S. Marshall. He was a member of East Gate Masonic Lodge. Jim loved to fish at Lake Ponderosa, buying cars and riding motorcycles. Most of all he loved time spent with his family - especially his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rilla; daughter, Maggie (Travis) Clatt; grandchildren, Maddie and Kendall Clatt; siblings, Carmella (Dan Rice) Halverson, Joseph Riccio, Theresa (Steve) Pint, Amy (Darrin) Galde, Anna Wright and Anthony (Trisha) Riccio; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The East Gate Masonic Lodge will perform Masonic Rights at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or the ARL in Jim's name.
