Bob Noble, 75, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 after a long-standing battle with COPD. He was born in Des Moines on January 4, 1940 to Charles and Katherine Noble, who preceded him in death, as did his sister Judy Johnson.
Bob retired from, and was fiercely proud of, the Des Moines Police Department. He retired as a Lieutenant and spent much of his career teaching at the Police Academy. He was particularly interested in department history. Before DMPD, he worked as a Firefighter and at John Deere. He continued to work in retirement, supervising the weight room at the YMCA, later managing at The Plaza and later still working security at Merle Hay Mall.
He was happy, optimistic, and out-going and his friends and family remember him best as a world-class story-teller.
He is survived by this wife, Donna Noble, his son Jeff Noble, his daughters Jamie Wheeler and Joan Noble, his step-sons Danny and Jim Carr, his brother Gary Noble and his step-siblings Ken Bailey and Glenn Bailey, Sharon Thompson, Sheryl Richards and Todd Bailey. Bob had 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Per his wishes, Bob will be cremated. Visitation will be May 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Saylorville Church, 6429 NW 6th Drive, Saylorville, Iowa and services will be May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Saylorville Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lakeside Fellowship Church (302 South 2nd Street, Polk City, Iowa), the Des Moines Police Museum (DMPD Chief's Office c/o Anna Kingery, 25 East First Street, Des Moines, IA 50309) or Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa (https://www.mercydesmoines.org/comm-resources/give-to-hospice).
