Kevin M. “Murph” Murphy

October 9, 1956 - January 14, 2018

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Kevin M. “Murph” Murphy, 61, of Bettendorf, will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. Honoring his wishes the rite of cremation has been accorded. His family will greet friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Friends and relatives are invited to continue the celebration at the Circle Tap at 7:00 p.m.

Murph passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf after an extended illness.

Kevin Michael Murphy was born October 9, 1956 in Clinton, IA, a son of Daniel and Kathleen (McCormick) Murphy. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Christina Mondanaro, on September 2, 1989. Kevin retired in 2011 as a Captain of the Davenport Police Department. His “watch” is over, not only for his neighborhood but for the community.

In lieu of flowers memorials, may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or the National Celiac Association, formerly known as the Celiac Sprue Association.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Christina, and their children and their spouses; Justin (Stephanie) Forsyth, Davenport, Brenna Murphy, Oklahoma City; his grandsons; Keegan, Carter and Owen; his siblings; Colleen Nixon, Clinton, IA, Steven (Marilyn) Murphy, Stevens Point, WI, and many loving extended family and friends.   

Preceding him in death are his parents, and a brother-in-law, Gary Nixon.  May they rest in peace.
