Craig L. Dawson, 66, of rural Lucas, Iowa, died at home Monday, September 17, 2018. Craig was born April 10, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Neil & Helen (Herrick) Dawson.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Dawson, daughter, Jennifer (Bryan) Sampica, son, Ryan Dawson, grandchildren, Madison, Paige, and Ramsey McKibben, Parker Sampica, and Cyrus & Reese Dawson, sister, Diane (Ron) Peters. He was preceded in death by his father, and wife, Julie Elizabeth (Alexander) Dawson.

Craig was retired from the Des Moines Police Department and spent the last 9 years on he and Julie’s ranch in Lucas County, Iowa, tending horses and other animals. Prior to this he enjoyed boating on Saylorville Lake with his family.

A memorial service for Craig and Julie will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018, 2:00pm, at Dunn’s Chapel, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. The family will greet friends following the service in Dunn’s atrium from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.
