ALLEN “CHUCK” SYLVIA
 September 7, 1933 – August 25, 2022

Allen “Chuck” Sylvia, 88, of Davenport passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Genesis East Medical Center.

Cremation will be done with a memorial service to be held 10:00am Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the Runge Mortuary. Family and friends may gather and visit at 9:00am. His final resting place will be in the National Cemetery Rock Island with his wife, Dina. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Police Honor Guard and condolences can be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.

Chuck was born September 7, 1933 in Nantucket, MA to Norman & Alice (Roberts) Sylvia. He served in the US Army during Korea. Chuck was united in marriage to Dina Cooper on December 10, 1955 in Des Moines, IA. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2015. Chuck was employed by the Davenport Police Department for 27 years prior to retiring in 1994.

Chuck enjoyed spending times with loved ones, gardening, fishing trips with friends and attending small town festivals and events. He was an accomplished wood carver who created many carvings which he gave to family and special friends. He was a sociable and compassionate person who loved helping others.

Survivors include 2 daughters Valerie (Joe) Waring, Milan, IL and Karyn Jennett, Davenport, IA; granddaughter Amanda Currier; sister in law Betty Sylvia, Lakeville, MA; and significant other Donna Marland, Bettendorf, IA .

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Dina, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
