Francis "Frank" Paul Nejedly

Francis “Frank” Paul Nejedly, 79, of Springville, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held. A public visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa.
Frank was born on March 15, 1943, on a farm west of Kalona, Iowa, and was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Julia Nejedly. He graduated from Kalona High School and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Air Force, from 1961 to 1969. While serving at Vietnam, Frank was a load master and was awarded the Air Commendation Medal, the Air Medal twice and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged as staff sergeant in 1969. In 1970, Frank joined the Cedar Rapids Police Department and served until his retirement in 2000. He was honored as “Officer of the Year”. On July 27, 1980, Frank was united in marriage to Susan Lucile Weller in Central City, Iowa. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Frank is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Susan Weller of Springville; daughter, Deborah Railsback of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Thomas (April) Nejedly of Philadelphia, Pa., and John (Jessica) Nejedly of Cedar Rapids; and their families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparent; parents; and son, Jeffrey Nejedly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frank’s memory may be made to the Jones County Regional Medical Center at 1795 IA 64 E, Anamosa, IA 52205.
