William "Jim" McGlade
February 25, 1935 - February 24, 2023

William J. “Jim” McGlade, age 87, passed away February 24, 2023 at his home at Primrose Retirement Community. 

Jim was born February 25, 1935 in Mills County, Iowa to the late William Charles and Annie (Good) McGlade. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1952. He entered the United States Air Force in August 1952 and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, until his discharge in 1956. Jim joined the Council Bluffs Police Dept. in 1957 and served the people of Council Bluffs for 33 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1990. On December 31, 1953, Jim was united in marriage to Audrey Nicholas and together raised their family in Council Bluffs. Jim was a lifetime member of VFW Post 737, 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, in 2015; sisters: Gladys and Norma; great-grandson, Brycen Burns.

Survivors include daughter, Barbara (Rod) Harrill; sons: Jim (Vicki) McGlade, Ken (Mary) McGlade, Pat (Mary Beth) McGlade; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard McGlade and Larry McGlade.

Visitation with family present, Tuesday 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service Wednesday 11:00am all at funeral home. Council Bluffs Police Honor Guard will be present. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Luncheon will follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Center. Memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital preferred.
