Paul Franklin Loveless

October 13, 1929 - April 13, 2024

 

Paul Franklin Loveless, 94, formerly of Hudson died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, Houston, Texas.

Paul was born October 13, 1929, in Benton County on the family farm, near La Porte City, He was the youngest of six children born to the late Fred H. and Emma M. (Hill) Loveless. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and honorably served for four years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Paul served his community as one of the first K-9 handlers for the Waterloo Police Department. He was an officer for WPD for 26 years until he retired in 1986. Paul could not deny the call to serve and took a position with the Hudson Police Department in 1987. He retired in 1992 as the Chief of Police there.

He married Brenda Ackerson on August 21, 1976 in New Hartford, Iowa.

Paul is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Jennifer Loveless and Jessica (Barrett) Rice of Houston, TX, As well as his children from a previous marriage Dotti (John) Nie of Buffalo, MN, and Paula (Jim) Longendyke, Debbie (Brad) Tidemann, Mark Loveless, and Phil (Donna) Loveless all of Golden Valley, MN, along with 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed camping and cross-country road trips with his family. Later in life, he found a true love for Astros baseball.

The funeral service for Paul will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, at the funeral home.  The burial will be at Fairfield Township Cemetery, New Hartford.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.
