Teddie B. Illingworth, 74, of Newton, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025.  A private family service will be held. Ted’s family will greet friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to Outdoors Without Boundaries can be left at the funeral home.

Ted, the son of Ben and Eileen (Vinson) Illingworth, was born December 22, 1950, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1969 and then attended William Penn University. He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Ted was united in marriage with Nancy Plummer on December 4, 1981, in Colfax. Ted served on the Newton Police Department from 1973 until he retired as a Lieutenant in 2006. In retirement, Ted stayed busy working for Wilson Auction Services, helping set up, tear down, and price items for auctions. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and Outdoors Without Boundaries. Ted enjoyed attending auctions, hunting, fishing, Friday visits to the casino with Nancy, meeting friends for coffee at McDonald’s, spending time at the cabin, and attending his grandchildren’s events.

Ted is survived by his children: Don (Deedra) Wing, Jr. of Austin, TX, Dena (Eric) Rinderknecht of Polk City, Brooker (Allex) Illingworth of Chariton, and James (Robyn) Illingworth of Newton; his grandchildren: Paige Rinderknecht, Bryce Rinderknecht, Benton Meyer, Isabella Hartz, Ryder Hartz, Jameson Illingworth, and Teddie Ben Illingworth; and his sister, Benna Langford.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy in 2020; his brother, John; and his uncle, Ted Vinson.
